Since Scala is possible to reach the start of the trail near the square of Pontoon (fraction of Scala) which is a couple of miles from the restaurant. Guests who wish may be accompanied by car to barge or prolong the pleasure of this beautiful walk and enjoy in full all the way.

At the foot of Mons Lactarius in the heart of the Amalfi Coast is a hidden treasure: the Valle delle Ferriere. An area of about 500 square meters designed by the course of the Reed, a lively stream that rushes in leaps and waterfalls, creating a landscape of rare beauty. The tropical vegetation typical of the Azores or India is intertwined with the Mediterranean nostrana. Unique specimens as Woodwardia radicans, a giant fern and Pinguicola hirtiflora, a carnivorous plant with pink flowers, enrich the reserve.
Large chestnut woods surrounding the area and alternate with the garrigue. For Acqualta the highest waterfalls reach 20 meters away, and Palara the river forms an impressive canyon. Two trails allow you to discover the wonders of the place including the remains of the old paper mills and factory of ‘factory where iron was mined and from which it takes its name from the valley. With a little ‘luck along the paths you can meet the salamandrine spectacled and otters engaged in fishing in the river.
